As it happens, some of the WHOA staffers' keys weren't on the keyserver. Looking around on the WHOA site, I find that all the staffers' PGP keys are available there. For instance, I found Cassandra's key, which didn't come up in my search of the PGP key server.

To get that into my keyring, I put my cursor into the web browser window and hit Ctrl+Shift+D. PGP recognizes that there is a PGP public key in the text, and aks me if I want to import it to my local keyring. I choose to look to see who has signed her key, to know whether or not I'd trust it as truly being Cassandra's key.

This key was signed by Cynthia Armistead, and I happen to have her key in my own keyring. I import the key, then check - yes, it's valid. Since I trust Cynthia, I decide to trust the key she has signed as truly belonging to Cassandra.

If I needed to email my key to someone, or put it on a web site or a floppy desk, I'd export it.

The resulting file, CynthiaArmistead.asc, can be emailed or placed on a web page. It can be automatically imported to a keyring by a PGP user, or it can be opened in a text editor and placed on a web page or in an email as plain text.
